Prof Abul Faiz

Professor Abul Faiz is a Professor of Medicine at the Sir Salimullah Medical College in Dakha, Bangladesh. He holds an MBBS from Chittagong Medical College Bangladesh, an FCPS and a PhD from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He is a former administrative chief of the Chittagong Medical College, and a former dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Dakha. He was Director General of Health Services (DGHS, Govt. of Bangladesh) from 2008 to 2009.

Since 1978, Professor Abul Faiz has developed research interests in Tropical Medicine, especially in the area of malaria, organophosphorus compound poisoning, snake bite, nipah infection, kala azar and tuberculosiss. He completed and published various studies on malaria.

He has been President of the Toxicology Society of Bangladesh and leads the country’s efforts to improve the management and prevention of pesticide poisoning.
